Oregon State Certified Home Inspector # 337 | Oregon C.C.B. # 110603

Choosing Your Inspector

Your home inspection is the foundation of one of the largest investments in your lifetime. Of course costs do add up, however you should choose your home inspector based upon their experience and knowledge they can bring to your transaction. “How much does your inspection cost?” is often the first question asked by potential clients but it tells the least about what you get for your hard-earned dollars. Your decision to purchase a home deserves the most competent and professional inspector.

Nathan’s experience inspecting in the Klamath Basin is unsurpassed. He attends many continuing education classes each year and has earned additional certifications to bring added value to our services. We are committed to providing the best quality inspections in the Klamath Basin.

Our goal is to provide our clients with the information necessary to make an informed purchase decision.

We encourage our clients to be present at the completion of the inspection to do a walk-through. This walk-through is designed to give the inspector a chance to discuss with the clients any particularly hazardous conditions present, items in need of repair, or perhaps even to say that everything looks great. A walk-through is not always feasible for out-of-town clients; in this case we encourage our clients to completely read the reports and then call with any specific questions they may have.

The walk-through is a perfect time for clients to ask the inspector questions about any concerns they may have about the home or the inspection. We truly enjoy working with our clients, from nervous first-time homebuyers to purchasers seeking assistance in evaluating potential investment properties.

Nathan is an active member in good standing of The American Institute of Inspectors® (A.I.I.™), a professional, non-profit corporation established as an inspection trade association. The purpose of the association is to promote a high level of professionalism in the inspection industry by certifying qualified individuals as inspectors and promoting consistency in reporting. This is accomplished through approved training and examination of those who apply for certification. The A.I.I.™ phone number is 1-800-877-4770. Nathan’s certification number is 1247.

Members who become certified operate under the Standards of Practice and Code Of Ethics of the American Institute of Inspectors®. Members remain certified by meeting annual continuing education requirements. The members of the American Institute of Inspectors® are truly proud of the high level of professionalism we maintain throughout our inspection association.

Nathan is also a member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI). The National Association of Certified Home Inspectors promotes a high standard of professionalism, business ethics and inspection procedures. Our NACHI ID# is NACHI06041896.

In Oregon, all home inspectors must be licensed through the Oregon State Construction Contractor’s Board (C.C.B.). The C.C.B. phone number is 503-378-4621. Our C.C.B. license number is 110603. In addition, whole house inspectors must be state certified. Nathan’s certification number is 337.

We are also members of the Southern Oregon Certified Home Inspectors chapter of The American Institute of Inspectors® and the Klamath Basin Homebuilder’s Association. Nathan has served as A.I.I.™ Secretary for three years and has also been active on several A.I.I.™ committees. Nathan has also been instrumental in organizing the 2006 and 2007 A.I.I.™ Spring Conferences.

To earn the above certifications, potential inspectors must attend classroom training including written knowledge tests, as well as in-field training with practice inspections. Nathan has furthered his training by earning several certifications beyond what is required in Oregon. He completes an average of 40 hours of continuing education each year on topics ranging from “back to basics” to technical electrical system evaluation. The Oregon C.C.B. requires home inspectors to complete 30 continuing education units in the 24 months before their license expiration date. A.I.I.™ requires 36 hours of continuing educations units each year to maintain Master Home Inspector status.

Because Nathan chooses to complete a higher number of continuing education hours each year and also because of our genuine interest in real estate, you can be assured that he maintains the most current knowledge possible on the wide range of topics that home inspections cover. In addition, Nathan is the only local home inspector who has worked with the Pacific Power energy audit program. He is specially trained to assist clients who have high utility usage complaints.
